The Purple House is situated at the heart of the vast cultural heritage of the Lycians, in Aperlai on the 170th kilometre of Lycian Way. A newly restored 200-year old stone house by the Mediterranean coast, The Purple House provides its guests a genuinely natural environment where electricity is produced by solar panels and water is supplied from natural sources.
You can stay overnight in the stone house or in tents among olive trees.
The Purple House is named after a sea animal that lives in the area. Its shell was used to produce the dye used in Christendom. Archaeological findings point at the area as the source of the famous purple red dye of the Murex snail. The area is known to be the main supplier of this special dye in the early and high Middle Ages.
